Application Merge

Merging applications in Zluri helps remove duplicates and consolidate data for the same product.

This keeps your application inventory clean and ensures activities and user data are unified.

Applications can be merged directly from the UI.

How Application Merge Works

When two applications are merged:

  • The source application is merged into the target application.
  • All users and activities from the source app are added to the target app.
  • The target app’s existing data and metadata remain unchanged.
  • The source app is removed from the system once the merge completes.

What Happens During a Merge

  • Unique users and activities from both apps are combined.
  • The target app keeps its spend, license, and contract data.
  • Status change logs and audit logs of the source app are not merged.
  • All merged data is moved under the parent application of the target app.
  • Merged activities cannot be undone, as Zluri does not store child app sources.

Attributes Affected

Only the following attributes are updated during a merge:

  • Users
  • App User Activities

All other details—such as spend, contracts, and licenses—remain with the target application.

Current Behaviour

  • Managed applications cannot be merged into another application.
  • Any application (regardless of authorization state) can be merged into a managed application.
  • Applications with contracts, licenses, or spend cannot be merged.
  • Status and audit logs are not merged or shown after the merge.
  • The source app is deleted after the merge.
  • Merged data appears in the UI after up to 24 hours (standard SLA).

Steps to Merge an Application

  1. Go to Applications from the left navigation panel.

  2. Open the Managed tab to view all managed applications.

  3. Select the application you want to merge to open its application profile.

  4. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the application profile to open additional actions.

  5. Choose Merge with Another App from the menu.

  6. In the merge window, enter the name of the target application you want to merge into.

  7. Select the correct target application from the results.

  8. Click Merge Application to start the merge process.

  9. Click Continue on the confirmation prompt to complete the merge.

  10. The application merge is now completed.

Important Notes

  • After a merge, combined user and activity data appear only after 24 hours.
  • If App A1 (under Parent P1) is merged into App A2 (under Parent P2):
    • Activities from A1 and A2 are merged under P2.
    • Activities from P1 are not merged.
  • Merged activities cannot be reversed.

Best Practices

  • Merge only different versions or variants of the same product.
  • Avoid merging applications from different parent apps.

Examples:

  • Merge MS Word 2021 and MS Word 2023 into MS Word
  • Do not merge MS Word and MS Excel

UI Restrictions

You cannot merge applications in the following cases:

  • The app has a direct integration.
  • The app includes contracts, spends, or licenses.
  • The app is a managed application.
